Why I am blogging about being fat?

I am fat. You can pinch more than an inch on this Mama's body. And you know what that means I am officially fat. And I hate it! I have this fear of being the fat mom at the PTA meeting or soccer game. Which isn't okay with me and so I am making some changes. This blog will chronicle the entire process as I try to lose this weight.

Why am I fat? I could say it's because I had two babies 1yr & 8 days apart, I could say it's because I got married & it's the marriage 20 +20+20 and so on. But honestly.....I LOVE food. I love to cook, to bake & to make yummy food for my family. I love to see the look/smile on my husbands face as he takes a bite of my newest dish.

This week I saw the move Julie & Julia and realized that Julie is me! I love cookbooks, love to experiment with recipes & love to taste see the final product. And I love to blog. I currently maintain two blogs. My other blogs are Team D Fun which is my family blog and Adventures in Mothering for my MOPS group. So deciding to chronicle my weight loss on a blog wasn't too far from reality for me.

I've dieted before and lost a ton of weight but sadly it has all come back + more. So this week I joined my friends in a weight loss challenge. 12 weeks to see who loses the most percentage of weight. We met last night for the 2ND meeting. I skipped the 1st meeting because I procrastinated, lied to myself, blamed it on the cost busy. But decided a little healthy competition couldn't hurt. Plus, I will get to see my friends at least 1x a week. So last night I weighed in, got measured & took the awful Before pictures. (Even one of my backside, ya know showing your whole butt...Yikes)

The Challenge:
  • Lose the highest percentage of weight in 12 weeks = Cost $40
  • Gain any weight from week to week = Cost $1.00
  • Miss a weigh in = Cost $5.00
  • Learn healthy eating habits
So this morning as I ate my breakfast (which I will detail in a later post) I decided as another way to keep me accountable I would blog about the experience. Through this blog I will post my daily calories, my daily menu, water intake, my exercise routine & any extra weight loss tidbits. ( I will leave one tidbit out my official weight....as I am not ready to fully put that out there. )

I am not a professional nor do I have a nutrition degree. I am simply a Mom who is overweight & wanting to change. The challenge may end in 12 weeks but I am looking to make some lifestyle changes. They say it takes 30 days to make something a habit. So lets see if it really works.

Here goes, wish me luck!
